Acme has sent out one of their mobile service guys to do the service on site. Both Norris and Jessie have always been prompt, efficient and prepared. If an extinguisher needs to be hydrostatically tested they will exchange it on site. The shop is a shop, not a boutique. I have been coming here for several years and highly recommend it. Acme has an amazing offering of fire extinguishers, signs and related items. Their prices are very reasonable: getting a chemical fire extinguisher recharged was just $12.50. Actually, Bruce (the Founder's grandson who now runs it) saved me time by just exchanging my old extinguisher for a new one --- I was in and out in 5 minutes. The shop is easily accessible off the Fruitvale exit of 880 and there is ample street parking. The shop has been in business since 1941, so you know they are doing something right!!! I highly recommend Acme.

Amazing. The guy at the desk seemed to know EVERYTHING about fire extinguishers. It was so cool. This is probably a pretty old shop. Non-descript. Not fancy. Utilitarian. But man, I was in and out of there in ten minutes, a happy camper. I think there are no photos merely because the service here is so GOOD. If you're being helped the moment you walk in, there's no time to embrace your inner Annie Leibowitz. My ancient (1977!) condo fire extinguisher couldn't be refilled, so I bought a new, medium-sized one for about $50. That's a lot of security for half a Benjamin. Metered street parking.
